MASK SEWING TUTORIAL
As promised here is the sewing tutorial for the 3 Layer Cloth Mask. I will also be giving some fit tips, as we all have different shaped faces and like how things fit differently. I hope these come in useful for you and your loved ones.
If you would like more guidelines about using masks, here are the recommendations from the Canadian government.
Please note that I did not edit this video as I wanted to get it to you as fast as possible. I hope you will find it useful.

For the jersey straps, my son has a tutorial here:

A few additional notes: Try and use tightly woven cottons. I have used double gauze and find it to be a really good option. Apparently a satin weave is even better. The Canadian government approves the use of linen too.
Mask fitting:
SHORTENING THE HIGHT: As mentioned in the video- if you would like to make the mask shorter in length, you can simply remove however much you need to the bottom curve, just remember to make the chin darts the same length and not to shorten those.
TIGHTER UNDER THE CHIN: It's a good idea once you have sewn your nose and chin darts to try the mask on before you sew any other steps. If you find you have too much fabric under the chin simply make your chin dart wider. I have a pointy and skinny chin, so I make my masks 0.5cm-0.7cm wider depending on the fabric i use. Simply add new notches that are 0.5cm-0.7cm further from the first ones and make the length of the chin darts the same.
SHORTENING OR LENGTHENING THE WIDTH: Simply add or remove the amount you need from the ends.
I would love to see your masks tag me on INSTAGRAM @ensemblepatterns or use
#sewensemble and feel free to share the pattern with whoever you think could use it.
If you are going to sell the masks, please make a contribution towards my small business with the Pay What You Want option in my shop.
